It was a night of stunning renditions as the top four contestants in the ongoing music reality contest, Nigerian Idol, thrilled fans and viewers with their superlative performances which was a combination of Naija cover and top songs on the Billboard Chart.
The Sunday live show was graced by the super-talented singer, songwriter, and producer Cobhams Asuquo, as a guest judge. He opened the show with an incredible performance of ‘We Plenty’ and ended by advising the finalists, “to always remember that they got to this stage because they did something differently, to always make the audience their priority and to always make music that they believe in.”
Comfort, who was among the top four finalists had to leave the show after she secured the lowest number of votes, leaving 3 others to battle for the prize.
Timeline.ng presents highlights of their colourful performances.
Kingdom With 'Iyawo Mi' by Timi Dakolo and ‘How Deep Is Your Love’ by Bee Gees.
Kingdom, Contestant Number 11, is just so good that the word 'good' is not enough to describe his singing prowess. Every moment on the stage is like an invitation for a concert and he delivers flawlessly. Enjoy his rendition of 'Iyawo Mi' by Timi Dakolo below. As usual, he left the judges standing on their feet.
Francis with ‘Pray for Me’ by Dare Art Alade AND ‘I Will Always Love You’ by Whitney Houston.
He is the contestant with a voice that talks to many souls. As usual, he is always comfortable with each song. No unnecessary falsetto or extraneous pitching. Enjoy his rendition of ‘Pray for Me’. His Whitney Houston attempt however seemed to have been over-ambitious and the performance did not sway the judges as much. Fans need to remember he is contestant number 10.
Akunna with ‘Johnny’ by Yemi Alade and 'Only Girl (In the World)’ by Rihanna.
The last lady standing, Akunna (No 01) didn't give fans and viewers the right measure of thrill they expected. Notwithstanding, her journey to the top 3 stage has been amazingly fierce. She is a fighter who lives to compete again. We being you her rendition of ‘Johnny’ by Yemi Alade.
As the show comes to its final days, fans need to remember that they once again have until Wednesday night to vote to keep their favorite on the show. Who will be last two standing?
