Nigerian Idol: Beyonce Evicted as Top 6 contestant deliver African song performances
Beyonce

It was a tense night during Sunday's live show as contestants and their fans waited with bated breaths for the names of those to perform to be called.

Sadly Beyonce had to leave the show after she secured the lowest number of votes in a tense final call between her and Akunna that left the latter almost in tears when she got the confirmation of her place in the Top 6.

Timeline.ng brings you highlights from performance of the Top 6 as they battled it out on stage in Fela Week. One by one, they thrilled the audience with their renditions of timeless classics from the late Afro beat Legend Fela Kuti after inspiring sessions with son, Seun Kuti at the Kalakuta republic.

Comfort on 'Observation Is No Crime'

This young lady has been taken out of her shell and she is now blossoming as seen in her performance of Fela's 'Observation Is No Crime'

Just close your eyes and listen to the song. She's singing it perfectly like the female version of Fela.

Faith on 'Palava'

There are not too many people who can sing any genre of music and make it sound amazing. This is where faith stands out. His electric performance of Fela's 'Palava' says it all.

Who else noticed faith 'appeared' more like D’Banj than Fela? Excellent observation!

Francis on 'Yellow Fever'

The ever consistent Francis made Fela's "Yellow Fever" fever timeless his mesmerising baritone voice.

It was the perfect song for his voice and he performed it so naturally and so smoooth. Ladies and gentlemen, give it up for the ever versatile Francis.

Emmanuel on 'No Agreement'

If there were awards for 'lit stage presence,' Emmanuel will no doubt go home with loads of them. Enjoy his stage performance of Fela's 'No Agreement'.

Did you know that Emmanuel backs up for Tim Godfrey? His thrilling performance is evident of years of nurtured talent.

Kingdom on 'Gentleman'

This contestant never cease to be awe inspiring. He was literally on fire during Sunday's live show. In a nutshell, Kingdom proved critics wrong that. He certainly isn't just a ballad singer but a total all round entertainer. His performance of "Gentleman" by Fela said it all and it is no wonder that he is one of the leading crowd favorites. Won't be a surprise to see this one crowned as Season's winner one bit.

The body movements, the vocal power and control, the costume. Everything about Kingdom was top notch!

Akunna on 'Lady'

Are you searching for a replica of Yemi Alade's vibes when it comes to music? Then you have a fave in Akunna. She was very fierce and her rendition of Fela's 'Lady' was magical.

Her energy and vocal texture did the job. It's amazing how she played well with ranges. She did really perform like a born star.
