NCDC records increased new cases of Covid-19

The Nigeria Center for Disease Control NCDC has confirmed 310 new cases of Covid-19. 

The latest figure is 10 cases higher than figures collated by the centre in week 19.

These were contained in a weekly epidemiological report released by the centre for week 20 beginning from the 17th to 23rd May 2021.

According to the report, the number of discharged cases decreased from 116 recorded in week 19 to 63.

The report which revealed that only one death was reported for week 20, added that since the outbreak began in Week 9, 2020 there have been 166,019 cases and 2,067 deaths reported with a case fatality rate (CFR) of 1.2%. 

While noting that the number of in-bound international travellers at Nigerian airports was 15,755 compared with 15,669 in Week 19, the report added that in Week 20, the number of in-bound international travellers test was 2,747 of which 23 were positive compared to 18 from week 19.

It further noted that in Week 20, the number of out-bound international travellers test was 3,833 of which 25 were positive compared to 24 from week 19.
