Abductors of Abia Varsity students made contacts - VC
Abia State University.

Professor Maxwell Ogbulu, the Vice Chancellor of the Abia State University Uturu, ABSU, has revealed that the gunmen who abducted students of the institution alongside other passengers have made contacts.

The Vice Chancellor disclosed this on Friday while briefing journalists on the situation in Umuahia, the State capital.

According to him, “We can safely say for now, it is only one student that is involved. The other two were able to escape.”

Timeline reliably gathered that the remaining captive of the gang that struck along Uturu – Okigwe Road is a 400 level student of political science.

While declining from giving details of the contact for security reasons, Professor Ogbulu assured that efforts were on top gear by the security agencies in collaboration with the Abia State Government and the university security architecture to track the perpetrators and rescue the victim unharmed.

Asked if the two escapees had been interrogated to possibly get a clue on the identity of the perpetrators, the VC said the security operatives had interacted with them and had the necessary information.

It would be recalled that Unspecified number of passengers including ABSU students were on Wednesday night, around 8:00pm abducted by armed hoodlums while traveling from ABSU to Okigwe.
