House of Rep, Speaker move to avert shut down of Emirates service in Nigeria

The Honourable Speaker, House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila and the Leadership of the House of Representatives took far-reaching measures to quell the disturbing actions of one of the international flight operators in the country in the mode of Emirates Airlines who announced its withdrawal of flight services country's operating routes.

This disturbing pronouncement was made Thursday citing its inability to repatriate funds from Nigeria due to some administrative bottlenecks. Reacting to the move, Nigeria's lawmakers through the Speaker and House of Representatives called on the Chairman House Committee on Aviation Hon. Nnoli Nnaji and his committee House to meet and resolve the hitch with the affected airline and all concerned in the Aviation sector.

Meanwhile, the Hon. Speaker Gbajabiamila has pleaded with the management of the airline to reverse their announcement as the government will definitely resolve the hitches in no time.

On his part the Clerk, House of Representatives Dr. Yahaya Danzaria informed the press that the leadership and the speaker have been briefed on the withdrawal of services threat by the Emirates.

Thus the following concerned entities have been called in for an emergent resolution meeting including and not restricted to the Special Adviser to the president on Ease of doing business, Minister for Finance, budget and national planning Zainab Ahmed, Godwin Emefiele Central Bank Governor, Chairman Aviation Committee, House of Reps.

Others invited for the high-level meetings are the Director General NCCA, Minister of Aviation, Emirate Country Director, Country Rep IATA, Chairman, Banking and Currency Committee House of Reps, and Chairman Finance Committee House of Reps.
