The Chief Of Army Staff (COAS), Maj.-Gen. Farouk Yahaya, says Nigerian Army has ensured continuous training to keep officers and soldiers more efficient in facing dynamic operational challenges for effective delivery.
Yahaya stated this when he declared open the Second Commanding Officers Workshop on Tuesday in Sokoto.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the event was tagged ‘ ‘ Equipment Maintenance and Operational Efficiency: The Role of Operational and Tactical Level Commanders in the Nigerian Army and Sister Services through Inter-Agency Cooperation ”.
He said that a series of training packages were aimed at developing the capacity of officers and men for effective services in line with global best practices.
He said that lack of training constitutes a hitch in the operations in recognition of the dynamic nature of operations and confronted challenges.
” The efforts are geared towards preparing officers, especially Commanders at tactical levels for efficient and right decisions in order to achieve the desired results.
” I urged participants to utilize the skills from experienced resource persons as well as shared experiences among themselves from different locations,” Farouk said.
He added the theme was apt, timely, and relevant as a continuation of the first training that was in line with the Nigerian Army vision, which would go a long way in improving the perspective of Commanders.

The COAS commended President Muhammadu Buhari for his sustained support to Nigerian Army and other agencies.
He also lauded Gov. Aminu Tambuwal for his routine assistance and for ensuring cordial relationships in the state.
In his speech, Tambuwal thanked Nigerian Army for establishing formations in security-challenged Isa, in the eastern part of the state, and Sifawa in the Bodinga local government area.
He expressed appreciation for the training in recognition of the challenges faced by the state, which needed enhanced inter-agency cooperation as embedded in the training modules.
Tambuwal further assured sustained support to Nigerian Army and looked forward to a more robust partnership to end the security challenges.
In his remark, the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar, emphasized the need for more training and experience sharing among personnel which would surely boost their morale during the operations.
Abubakar, who recounted his days in the Nigerian Army, urged the participants to adhere to rules and boost the unity and progress of the nation.
