Musa Nimrod, the president of the Nigeria Volleyball Federation (NVBF), has urged the U-19 Boys national team to retain the title in the ongoing African Nations Volleyball Championship.
The Nigerian team defeated their counterparts, Libya 3-0 (25-15, 25-18, 25-16) in the first quarter-finals match on Wednesday.
Nimrod who stated this in an interview with News men on Thursday in Abuja said the boys were making the country proud in the ongoing championship.
“They won all their games in the group stage and defeated Lybia in the quarter-finals on Wednesday.
“We will continue to encourage them to put in their best in the remaining games so that they will return home with the trophy again,” he said.
He commended the U-19 Girls national volleyball team who finished third to win the bronze medal at the just concluded African Nations Volleyball Championship.
“This is the second time we are hosting the championship and we have achieved the goal of hosting it.
Nimrod who said he was proud of the Girl's performance, added that they spent just three to four months in camp before the championship.
“I believe they will do better in the next edition of the championship,” he said.
Nigeria defeated Sudan, Cameroon, and Tunisia in their group matches.
The 2022 U-19 Men’s African Nations Volleyball Championship which started on Sept. 1 will end on Sept. 12 in El Jadida, Morocco.
