Sports pundits and fans alike are buzzing over the new data released recently which suggests Liverpool could face European demotion after their Champions League hammering at Napoli on Wednesday night .

The new analytical data seems to suggest that the Anfield is mostly likely to be knocked out of the elite champions league tourney to the second class Europa league and also picked as the likely fourth favourite to win it.

Jurgen Klopp's men got their Champions League group-stage campaign off to the worst start ever imagined in Naples, where they fell three goals behind inside a disastrous opening 45 minutes with their Italian opponents running rings around them.

A penalty kick was also missed by Nigerian striker Victor Oshimen but that didn't stop the Italians from beating Liverpool silly and putting their German coach Jurgen Klop in a tight situation ahead of other fixtures.

The hosts then compounded their misery by making it 4-0 shortly after the break, meaning a subsequent strike from Luis Diaz proved little more than a consolation.

It was a night to forget for Liverpool, thus the new data compiled by entertainment and technology company Gracenote indicates they may not make it out of the group stages.

Following the first round of Champions League fixtures, Gracenote has calculated which teams have the biggest chance of winning this season's Europa League - and Liverpool are joint-fourth on the list.

The Reds, who would drop into Europe's second-tier competition if they finished third in their Champions League group and missed out on a place in the knockout stages, are said to stand a six per cent chance of lifting the trophy in Budapest next May.
