Chelsea says it will allow allow fan representation at board meetings from July as part of the efforts to build bridges with supporters after the European Super League debacle.
The west London club was one of the Premier League ‘Big Six’ who attempted to join the break away from UEFA competition; an event that garnered unfavourable reactions from fans.
However, Chelsea has now taken a bold step to ease tensions among its fans by stating that supporters club would be allowed to have a say on how the club is run during meetings.
Three supporter advisers, picked through an election and selection process, will be allowed to attend board meetings to ensure fans are part of the decision-making process.
Sportsmail reported that successful candidates will be required to enter into a confidentiality agreement, similar to the obligations of Chelsea’s board of directors.
But they will not have any voting rights and will not participate in any meetings relating to players, staff, the academy and other related matters.
